  • White Pixels

Hello, I've been playing on the a rune server, and I just got the Tenebrae client, except I'm getting these white pixels from the rune effects [or whatever you would call them]. For example the floating orb has a stream of white pixels that take up the whole screen almost, and I can barely see. Any suggestions?

First off, congratulations for being able to use Tenebrae to play online You must have a beast of a machine because I get 5-20 frames per second with Tenebrae.

If you like the lighting in Tenebrae, you might consider using DarkPlaces and turning real-time lighting on.

I know this isn't an answer to your question directly, but Tenebrae was sort of an lighting experiment and there may not be a way to do what you want with the settings. Tenebrae does have a unique plastic-like look, the DarkPlaces engine has most of the real-time lighting features that Tenebrae had and they run faster. It's also easier to adjust the settings in DarkPlaces.

    I hope that was helpful.

Sometime to definitely try with Tenebrae if you haven't yet is Ogro's monster skins:

These look pretty good in DarkPlaces as well, there is a download of those formatted for DarkPlaces at this location:

Cross fingers and type gl_ztrick 0 into the console For extra credit, also type gl_clear 1 in the console.

If that doesn't solve it, I can't think of anything obvious that would help.

That looks like a missing texture bug with a particle sprite. IIRC, Tenebrae has it's own custom particle textures in a PAK file, so if something is not loading correctly you'll have an invalid texture number reference and get exactly the same result.
