  • almost the same as skin question but i thought it to be rude to steal a thread...

ok, i am using proquake3.99% to play online but i have found that the fvf-creature-textures and the ammo/health textures i have downloaded dont work with it. =peg= suggested making them less than 24-bit but im not sure i can cos they are PNG-Image files so my question(s) is/are:

is it possible to get these textures/skins to work

how do i edit png files without ruining them

what bit should i use [for some reason 16_bit comes to mind]

i know this is kinda a minor thing but i have foundci enjoy fvf...and i kind of like seeing the strange smiles on the monsters as they kill me

ProQuake doesn't have external texture support, so use Qrack. Toss into c:\quake\qrack\textures\models I believe and it should work.

hmm.. qrack doesent work on my computer, it starts up and all i get is this blackscreen with a skipping sound effect, but maybe if i can get the thing in dp worked out i could use that, the problem is the flahing lights; such as when you go throught the first slipgate, and theres that hall that has the "secret" in it the lights blink or do a fadeing thing which eats my fps [i beleave they call it e1m1]

What graphics card and operating system do you have?

I'm very interested in this particular problem (the Qrack not starting for you problem), not for knowledge's sake but to solve it. Does JoeQuake work for you?

One reason I ask is I have prototype engine that will probably work on your machine if JoeQuake does, it's sort of a JoeQuake on steroids.

nevermind it got it to work [finally ] its really good and yes, joequake does work on my computer, i guess i must have made it work by stating qrack atleast 20 times in a row... i have other problems now [on qrack],well one i fixed so its just one; during a game the pause menu is all dark with no brownish text or the side things that say 'menu' and 'quake id'. its no big deal but it gets annoying having to turn on the bloom everytime i wanna see what im clicking on.
