Darkplaces recognises such faulty mapping and tries keeping the items in the map. And that results in this funky behaviour. You can disable it with "sv_gameplayfix_droptofloorstartsolid 0" I think, but then the items are gone.

While we are at it, you might want to set the following cvars to 0 to get proper Quake gameplay.

    sv_gameplayfix_blowupfallenzombies 0
    sv_gameplayfix_grenadebouncedownslopes 0
    sv_gameplayfix_qwplayerphysics 0
Well, I ran your repackaged Gl nehahra again, and it does not appear to have this problem, the items were staying put. But there is something else. When I was playing, the status bar was black and only visble when the menu is on.

    I have attached a pic:

I used DPNehahra and it ran without any problems.

However, the Darkplaces engine seems to be a bit jerky on my computer, while the GLquake.exe packaged with Nehahra ran perfectly, I was wondering what version of GLquake that is and where i could get it to run other mods.

      I've used this:

      http://user.tninet.se/~xir870k/glquakebjp.zip

before and It gave me flickering screens that I was unable to fix.

That would be the best GLQuake.exe that I know of to use with mods.

This should kill the screen flicker easy:

        gl_ztrick 0
        gl_clear 1

Only relatively recently have all the "Quake video card issues" really been fully understood and if aguirRe releases an update to Enhanced GLQuake I sure hope it has ...

        gl_ztrick default to 0
        gl_clear default to 1
        Intel fix
        ALT-TAB fix

Aggravating little issues like the above cause a lot of grief and with Quake the problems are more like death by 1000 cuts where someone somewhere is getting frustrated with a handful of these things rather than some single issue.

Btw, your issue with the HUD disappearing in Nehahra ... type viewsize 100 in the console --- this is happening because if you exit during a cutscene, the cutscene appears to set viewsize 120 to hide the HUD and if you quit during a cutscene then viewsize 120 saves to your config.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

          Tried those already, didn't work.

Then I used Darkplaces, and it worked. but I get an low framerate when the Enforcers fire their lasers, which has some light around it in the Darkplace engine.

The Glquake.exe supplied with Nehahra is not jerky nor does it flickers. That's why I wanted a version of it to run other mods.

In DP, r_coronas 0 will turn off the laser glow.

If you don't have a video card that supports GL 2.0 then you should do r_glsl 0 as well.

16:03:30 <gb> the fact that only playtesting tells me that probably means that my mind is a sieve

Thanks. Can I use the glquake.exe packaged with Nehahra to run other mods? Or is there an equal of it somewhere?

I tested using the Glquake.exe packaged with Nehahra to run other mods. I tested it with Malice, OUM, and it seems to work. However, when I entered viewsize 100 into the console the status bar is still black. Is there anything else that could be causing this problem?

Hard to tell. If you mean that the entire area that the status bar is supposed to be in is black, playing with gl_clear 0 or and gl_ztrick 0 or 1 might fix it.

If you mean that the status bar is just rendered poorly, using -bpp 16 or -bpp 32 might fix it.

What video card are we talking about here?

When glquake.exe starts up, gl_renderer: <something> should show in the console log. What does it say? Hopefully the word "Intel" is not in it.

You said something about some engine made the screen "flicker"? Usually gl_ztrick is to blame for that. Are you certain you have tried gl_ztrick 0? (Yeah, I know you said you did.)

                    Using

                    gl_ztrick 0
                    gl_clear 1

                    fixed it. Thanks!

The gl_ztrick 0 made the status bar normal, but it didn't help with the flickering. The Glquake.exe that was modified for Nehahra doesn't flicker though. That's why I was wondering if the Nehahra's GLquake.exe was a different one or something.

                        I do use intelG945.

When I set both Gl_ztrick and gl_clear to 0, the flickering stops but the status bar becomes black. Is there something I could do with the status bar?

There is no direct solution to your problem with those Intel cards.

Let me look into something though.

In the meantime, I used this to make Darkplaces run smoother by using your advice from another thread

                            "cl_particles_blood_alpha "1"
                            cl_stainmaps "0"
                            cl_stainmaps_clearonload "0"
                            gl_polyblend "0.200000"
                            r_coronas "0"
                            r_glsl "0"
                            r_shadow_gloss "0"
                            r_shadow_realtime_dlight "0"
                            r_shadow_realtime_dlight_shadows "0"
                            r_shadow_realtime_world_dlightshadows "0"
                            r_shadow_realtime_world_shadows "0"

I have also downloaded the Darkplaces fastmode pk3, and placed in in my Id1 folder.

Is there anything else I could do?

sorry for the double post, but i just had a quick question..
downloaded the repacked nehahra zip from spirit and installed it and ran it just fine. but couldnt figure out how to get the effects and lighting that DP has to get going. the usual DP options were not in the options menu, it was all just like normal quake options. even had to go through the command line to get it to the resolution i wanted. i figured that one would have to type in the apporpriate console line to get these normal DP features up and running. (prettty inconvienient) am i doing something wrong? would like to have the full and normal DP options menu, but if not then just console commands would be better than nothing. please and thank you
