  • ProQuake 3.99 Monster lag

Running xp pro fully patched up, and proquake 3.99 on a AMD Opteron 185 with 2gb RAM and a nVidia 8800GT(X?).

Monsters are jerky and laggy but my own movement (turning, running, etc) is smooth as silk. What do I need to do to fix the monster problems?

    Type r_interpolate_animation 1 and r_interpolate_transform 1 in the console.

This turns on animation smoothing in ProQuake 3.99 (it is off by default).

Most modern clients have some sort of animation smoothing to hide the fact that the Quake game logic actually operates at 10 frames per second, which looks jerky but it is off by default in ProQuake 3.99.

Many thanks. Can I put that in the autoexec.cfg instead?

ProQuake 3.99 saves anything normalish to the config so just setting it will save it to your config.cfg.

When I type this into the console, it responds with "unknown command". I tried "gl_" instead of "r_", and it worked.

Yeah, the cvars were renamed to be consistent with JoeQuake.

            Sorry.
