  • Why don't I have .pak files?

Yesterday I was digging through my closet and found an old Quake 1 CD. So I installed it. It works great and is an awesome game. Then I found a homebrew application letting me run Quake on my Nintendo DS. It requires .pak files, but I don't have any in my id1 folder. WTF?

Could you post a screenshot of your id1 folder pls? There's a possibility that all the content in the .pak files were extracted into the id1 folder, thus not requiring the .pak files.

Hmm I remember that i had problems with linux ports, that couldn't find the pak-files because the PAK1.PAK and 0.PAK were not lowercased.

If you had installed or copied this from the CD why would it be in your download folder?

I'd suggest getting DOSBOX, if you have the original CD and run the setup file through that. It may feel rudimentary, but it should at least allow you access to the .pak files.

Hmm is there a tutorial for this??

            umm

I didn't download it, I just decided to put it there, for easy access. Except I have NO idea how to use DOS or DOS box.

Nevermind guys, I found the pak files, thanks anyway.
