    800 is normal gravity.
400 is low gravity like e1m8 ziggurat vertigo
0 is no gravity which is bad
    -800 is anti-gravity = fall towards ceiling

If you set sv_gravity 100 and jump, it should take a long time to land because that is very low gravity.

      sv_gravity

Exactly , but when I change the sv_gravity from the default of 800 on say e1m1 or any other map with default gravity , to 400 its not turning on "low grav" its staying at default even though I set it to 400.

Well .. what client are you using and are you doing this, I assume, in single player?

            Fixed it

I used dedicated fteqwsv instead and it works great , thanks anyway

sv_gravity is a server cvar (hence the "sv" part) so, as a client connected to a remote server, you won't be able to change it. You'll need to ask the server admin.
