just a quick question, while running around quake sometimes i dont run. but when im not running and decide to strafe, it automatically makes him run. was hoping there was a way to disable this? it is small and not a big deal but would be nice if anybody knew how.

Try setting cl_sidespeed to 200 (it defaults to 350). This one won't get saved to your config so you'll need to put it in an autoexec.IT LIVES! http://directq.blogspot.com/

holding left and right strafe will stop u,
also forward and back at the sametime will stop u.
holding 3 keys might just cramp your hand...

i think i wrote it down wrong... basically moving forward OR backward at the same time im strafing left or right, which is only 2 buttons, the quake guy sprints, even though i have always run turned off. im looking for the command to put in my autoexec so that this doesnt happen.

ok.. seriously! does anybody know the command for moving forward and strafing sideways at the same time?? basically once in a while its cool to play Quake on the tv while i chill on the couch, and to do that i use pinnacle profiler w/ my 360 controller. i dont have always run turned on when i use the controller so when i strafe and move forward at the same time, or backward, basically when the quake guy moves diagonally it the game automatically makes him run.. annoying as all hell.. not to mention it messes w/ the feel of everything, basically hes running when hes not supposed to be. so, please. any help would be appreciated. if strafe is cl_sidespeed then strafe and forward must be somethin close to that one would think. alright. thats my plea for help. thanks to anyone in advance

Make an alias
alias +sf "+forward;wait;+moveleft"
alias -sf "-forward;wait;-moveleft"
bind aux1 +sf
aux1 usually is the 1st button on the gamepad... maybe play around with that??
