Baker,

I thought it might be expedient to share my findings concerning the following issues:
- using a lot of aliases sometimes generates a Quake Error 'SZ_GetSpace: overflow without allowoverflow set'. By rearranging aliases and/or splitting them into more files the error can be mostly circumvented.
- R/LSHIFT, R/LALT, R/LCTRL, and PRINTSCR can be bound but do nothing when pressed.
- I cannot get CD playback to work, regardless of using -cdaudio and/or cd_enabled 1, even though the CD to be played resides in the drive with the lowest drive letter. cd_enabled 1 displays a message stating 'MP3 enabled: music on next map change' which implies support of MP3 instead of CD playback; to have both options to choose from would be nice, of course, but the latter seems more important from a purist point of view. I tried track02.mp3 etc. in id1/sound/cdtracks/, but to no avail.
- after running a demo the backdrop of the demo stats only remains animated for a couple of seconds and then freezes. Pressing ESC raises the main menu with the quake logo as background like after a disconnect. Pressing ESC again shows the demo stats in the left upper corner (see attached screenshot).
- on toggling vid_fullscreen gl_smoothfont 1 is reverted to 0.
- pq_moveup 1 only works in water, but not with noclip. As workaround I use an alias pair like +jumpmoveup "+jump; +moveup" and -jumpmoveup "-jump; -moveup", but I find it inconsistent nonetheless.
- although certainly not essential for gameplay, I very much like r_mirroralpha; when set to < 1, however, ambient sounds fade when the texture in question is within the fov; when the texture is out of fov ambient sounds return. ambient_level itself retains its value.
- an escape character would among other things allow for the use of quotation marks inside of aliases enabling quake's complete character set not just for one's name (e.g. alias start "echo \"current map: \"").
- condump doesn't accept a file name as target and overwrites an existing condump.txt.
Thanks in advance.
