Well, i got around to "Vis-ing" my ID maps. It looks great. But, it caused a decent amout of lag. I dont remember my old Voodoo 2 sli setup having been affected all that much by the "vis-ed" maps unless r_novis was enabled which wasnt needed of course with the patched maps.

I was just checking to see if this was normal.

I also used Seven's "Pretty water" pk3. But I already had qrp normalmaps and reforged skins and those didnt make alot of difference fps wise either.

    Oops.

if you use realtime lightning, it's normal that FPS will drop 60% or more

Yes, the realtime lightning makes a huge difference with our laptop. The old Voodoo 5500 runs Darkplaces pretty well until realtime lighting is enabled.

Seven let me know that the water.pk3's can make a pretty big difference than just standards VIS-ed transparent water maps.

So I just bought a ATI 4870 1gb on Ebay.

This game looks so good at this point that Im not sure when Ill be able to stop buying video cards. i started out with a 3870, then got a 4850, now a 4870. And this all started because I wanted to run Darkplaces at a good fps with RTL enabled.
