  • display problem of my own

I've been trying to run Glquake on Windows XP but when I start the game and the console rises, it leaves like an imprint of itself flickering on the screen. Has anyone else had this issue?

The original GLQUAKE.exe from ID? That thing is positively ancient, check out Proquake, and the upcoming Engine X (I wouldn't recommend using it now, as it has quite a few things that need to be ironed out yet, but it has great potential in future releases).

and run with -fullsbardraw (and -no8bit too)

That should do it. Otherwise I second what everyone else says about the original GLQuake - you do not want to be using it. There are plenty of great alternatives which fix all of these problems; which one is best for you depends on whether you want to do multiplayer or single player, whether you want eye-candy or a faithful look, and whether or not you're bothered about strong modding features.

That's hard to answer. What are you wanting to do?
Do you want to play online? Have a pretty looking Quake? What?

If you're playing online go check out ProQuake.
If you're wanting a pretty quake go check out DarkPlaces.

There is a whole bunch of engines in between as well.
Oh and yes foq you don't exist, get out of my way.
