  • Please help... errors loading some specific maps

Hello everybody!!! I discovered this portal and the Quake resurrection movement just about 3 weeks ago and here am I playing again this mythic game .

Well I have some issues with my set-up and when I play online, let me give you the all information I can to understand my problems... by the way sorry about my poor english level .

    Ok here we go:

    1. I'm using EZ Quake (latest version) on a MacBook Pro.

    2. I'm using also ProQuake from this website: ProQuake 4: The official continuation of ProQuake ;-)

    3. I also "RE-TEXTURED" my quake with the information located on these websites:
    :: Quake Revitalization Project :: Downloads ::
    Moon[Drunk]s Quake Graphics | Maps

I can play in many servers on the net but I always got these errors with some specific maps:

    or:

And as you can see I have all of the Quake maps on my "qw" folder (there are about 392 maps):

At this point could somebody help me and let me know what's wrong in my set-up? do I updated my maps? where can I download them? By the way I can't play DM2, DM3, DM4, DM6 online .

I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me.

    Thanks a lot!

The DM1-6 are all in the full version of Quake's id1 folder in a PAK file. Do you have only the shareware version of Q1 installed or the full?

      Thanks for your quick response!!!

Hi, again thanks for your quick response, please check the attached SS and you will see what I have inside my 'id" folder, I thought something is missing there, maybe PAK1.PAK? or other PAKS, sorry if I don't remember how many paks was installed on the original quake game.

Where I can find those paks?

      Thanks a lot!

Yeah you're missing pak1.pak - which comes with the full version of Quake 1. Pop in your Q1 CD and you can just copy it off of it.

          Thanks!

Thank you man... now works, the only issue is regarding some of the maps like SKULL, regarding the MAPS where is the correct place to put it in there? I placed a copy of the maps in:

          id/maps

          ezquake/maps

          qw/maps

          is that correct?

          Thanks!

generic maps (ie: ones not designed for any specific mod) should be placed in "id1/maps/example.bsp", relative to your quake executable.
you should not place maps in either ezquake nor qw directories, as this may cause issues if you ever want to switch engine, but its not really a problem. This applies regardless of mod or engine.

Get a legal copy of quake, i seen them on ebay for 4-5 $ or the whole Quake package on steam (anything except Quake 4) fr 10$something. It's really worth it. I remember back in 96 my Quake was about 60 $ or something like that.
