  • FitzQuake and custom maps

I've just recently found FritzQuake, it's awesome =D

However, I'm having a bit of a problem. I have Quake installed, so I can play, no issues. The problems come when I try to load up a custom map. When i drag the .pak onto FritzQuake I get an error saying:
    W_LoadWadFile: couldn't load gfx.wad

I have the ID1 map copied over to the FitzQuake map.

I'm using Oblige for the map generating, if that might be an issue?

It does not work like that in Quake, read the readme that came with the map/mod.
If it came with a pak file, you need to put that file into its own directory inside your Quake directory (so it is on the same level as id1/ ) and then launch Fitzquake with "-game yourdirectory" as commandline parameter (target field in a shortcut).

    Alternatively use Quake Injector
Quake 1 Singleplayer Maps and Mods

Put the pak file into a new directory like Spirit said:

      C:\Quake\my_directory\pak0.pak

      Then run the engine with:

      Fitzquake.exe -game my_directory (+map mymap)
      Scout's Journey
      Rune of Earth Magic
