  • Cant play quake :(

Hi, This question has probably been answered before...But im too lazy to read throught all the threads.
    Anyways...
I bought the original quake 1&2 game(Not on steam) But i cant run it on vista...So i wonder:Must i have one pc to play quake I AND II. And another one for Quake 3 And another one for quake 4?
    Or is there another way?

Use one of the more modern engines. QRack and Darkplaces are both great options.
QRack supports the md3 content (custom models) - however if you want a more "faithful" look go with this. Darkplaces is a engine overhaul that adds many features like normal mapping, gloss textures, luma/glow textures and other effects but it is much more cpu and gpu intensive.
    These are both for Q1

      Start with Fitzquake or DirectQ...

It's possible to run Quake 1-4 under both Windows XP and Linux (I'm doing that) so the answer to the question whether you need 2 PCs is clearly 'no'.

But I guess your question is rather 'How do I get Quake 1 and 2 to work under Windows Vista?'.

I don't have Vista and can't help with Q1 but for Q2, I read at Q2C that only the installer doesn't work under Vista. The solution is to install it manually. Using more modern engines may also be a good idea (try r1q2 for Quake2) but is not required for Quake 2 it seems.
