  • Tenebrae's fog and lights

    Hi everybody here!
    Well, after so much time with crashes and windows 7 issues I finally tested Tenebrae engine on my pc..
    I am, as surely many of quake gamers here, looking for making quake as perfect as posible, and I found a special "fog and colored light" effect (I'm really not sure how to name it ) in tenebrae, here is it:

    And I wanna know if there's some way to get this on DP, (if it is on tenebrae, why not on DP? )

    Yes, just use -tenebrae as switch on the commandline when starting Darkplaces.

      Well, actually it doesn't work..
      I just have the shiny metallic walls and the explosion effects, and MANY white missing textures..
      There's a special pak0.pak in the tenebrae engine, I think that there should be the solution to my question..

        Reason for the white textures is because it created a "tenebrae" folder in your quake folder and you now have to copy the content to there too.

          That's right, but the effects doesn't work anyways..

            Worked fine for me.

            C:\Quake\darkplaces.exe -telejano

            And loaded up a new game, and had that effect in the window.

              Telejano? I tested it and doesn't have the light effect.. And I've tried everything with the tenebrae one but nothing..

                Whoops sorry using -tenebrae

                C:\Quake\darkplaces.exe -sndspeed 44100 -heapsize 2621440 -tenebrae +sv_cheats 1 +deathmatch 0 +teamplay 0 +skill 3 +map start

                is my exact shortcut and it works for me perfectly


                Using default config too. Only difference is I added my fog bind.

                  I don't think a level fog like that was what he meant, He's talking about the smoke/fog that appears where the window effect is shining on the ground. That's one of the few things I remember from tenebrae.

                      So, guys, have you found any ways to make that smoke? I think the problem is in the progs.dat, though it would be hard to do something without sources of tenebrae's progs.

                        Actually Tenebrae's source code is open..
                        I still hope this effect can be done for DP..

                          Yes, I know about Tenebrae's sources, I only meant the sources of progs.dat file which comes with tenebrae. I just haven't seen it.
                          As far as I know, this smoke effect is just a cloud of small smoke-like particles that spawns in determined area. I think it is possible to do with DP, but I'm not sure that smoke particles will be encoloured it the rays of color light.
