  • Lights Editing

    Hi all here!

I was wondering if someone can help providing me a tuto of how to edit the lights in a QI map..
My principal motivation for creating this thread was my favourite map, e4m3: The Elder God Shrine..

I remember my first times playing Quake, I was 10 years old and I use to shit my pants when entering the cemetery zone..
Now with all DP's enhancements it's possible to make this map even creepier, but I found 2 problems..

First one I gotta change the sky to a much more darker one.
And second, when using "r_editlights 1" I found that light, I don't like it cos it iluminates almost the whole zone, making all clearly visible and you know what I want.

Can somebody explain me how to move or reduce it's intensity (or both)? Please..

I love colored lights, I'm thinking about placing a red light in there..

    [How-to] Use rtlights

has all the info you'd need.
For the edit commands you'd do this (I will use origin for a example)
    r_editlights_edit origin x y z
So if you want to make a light red:
    r_editlights_edit color 1.0 0.0 0.0

and there you go, a 100% red light. Would look bad but fiddle around and you'd get it nicely.

      Thank you OoPpEe!
I reduced it's "radius" to 250 and looks pretty good without changing the color..

And here I was thinking that you'd commonly use a map editor to do this stuff.

Perhaps Quake should contain an ingame map editing function in the future, so users can even change the brushwork?

I thought I was going to use an external map editor too, but everything is ingame and easy to do..
