It's definitely possible, there are still servers up nowadays. Hell, people are online right now if you look at the server list on the main page.Comment

QuakeSpasm - Browse /Mac at SourceForge.net
QuakeSpasm is the more recent version of that FitzSDL engine.
Darkplaces and FTE also run on Macs.
You put the executable into your quake directory; it is a substitute for the original Quake program.
If you manage to run Quake with one of those replacement engines, you're good to go.
You then connect to one of the servers in the list on the quakeone.com front page.Comment
