hello there i loved the classic fps QUAKE and im going to show you how to make it look at its best!
    first download darkplaces
then download rygels high res texturepack
    next get QuakeBestiary
ok got all of it next install darkplaces bye unziping it in to a folder then put your id1 folder in it and there your done
next install rygels high res texture pack by moving the pk3 file to the id1
and thats it next to install QuakeBestiary open it with 7zip or winrar find the progs and scripts folders and put them in your id1 folder and thats"

"note i did not make any thing here QuakeBestiary darkplaces and rygels high res texturepack all belong to there owners"

totally dissagree on you, theres lots of other stuff out the that is way better looking then rygels compilation and the skins from the quake bestiary IMO.

rygels compilation is way outdated, its from 2007, and there has been way better stuff made since then which looks million times better

if you take the time to browse the 'finished releases' parts of the forums you can find a lot better looking stuff then rygels and the skins from the quakebestiary

    like animated ammo-boxes,
torches which do actually have flames (unlike the ones in rygels pack. try looking at the walltorches ),
better-looking hi-poly model replacements for half of the enemies,
the QRP texture-pack which looks lot better then rygels,
lovely animated transparent water and animated lava made by seven,
a neat-looking transparent hud with hi-res icons, rain&fog for all maps,
    animated and reflecting textures,
    improved sound-files,
    and much more

and of course sevens small mod compilation which makes the game way neater and adds features which the original quake was missing without changing the gameplay but making it so much more awesome

if you want i can give you some links to the add-ons

    .
are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?
    > then make sure to check out my 'definitive' HD replacement content thread! <
everything that is out there for quake and both mission-packs, compiled into one massive thread

I guess Splitterface is talking about Sevens small mod compilation.
Read the "features" on top of the threads start post:
        http://quakeone.com/forums/quake-mod...mpilation.html

Almost all of the features can be enabled/disabled via cvars.
So you can adjust everything to your personal liking.
Seven explaines it very detailed in his readmes.

Progs folder in id1 folder. If you haven't got one - create it.

usually the progs folders are in the pak files. This is where the engine loads models from. If there is a progs folder in id1 or the "-game " folder it will search there too.
