  • Quake + Mission Packs on Win7

    Hello,
I have bought Quake 1 and mission packs (SOA and DOF) and I wanna run it on Win7 (i have Ubuntu and WinXP if I can't on Win7...) but it doesn't work on Win7 and XP. I mean, Quake 1 main is running perfect. Installator of Mpacks works perfect, too, but I don't know how to run MPacks. There's no shortcuts. Can u help me?

    Greetings.

try downloading the darkplaces engine, it runs quake perfectly on modern O/S and it adds lighting effects and such and allows for hi-res texture replacements and such

    LordHavoc's DarkPlaces Quake Modification

to use quake with the darkplaces engine, make a folder and extract darkplaces engine into it,
and then open your quake folder, and copy the ID1, HIPNOTIC and ROGUE folders from your original quake folder into the folder where you also extracted darkplaces.
and thats all you have to do, no need to copy over anything else from your quake folder

and then to start normal quake, just start the darkplaces.exe

    to start the mission packs,
use the command line 'darkplaces.exe -hipnotic' to start MP1 SoA
and 'darkplaces.exe -rogue' to start MP2 DoE

and be sure to browse these forums, theres lots of amazing replacement stuff like hi-poly replacement models, new amazing effects, and hi-res textures around

links to a lot of these can be found here in another post from me in another thread:
    http://quakeone.com/forums/quake-hel...tml#post106807

(ps the links in that post are only for stuff for normal quake and not for any of the stuff added in the mission packs)

    > then make sure to check out my 'definitive' HD replacement content thread! <
