  • GLQuake v.1.1b3 OpenGL on PowerMac

I have been playing GLQuake on my PowerMac G4 Quicksilver using OSX 10.4.11. It runs beautiful with no problems.
My question is, How can I get it to run X-Men Ravages of Apocalypse - Total Conversion? I have the original cd and installed it.
Is it possible to run it under GLQuake?

I read that it can be done at the Mac GLQuake Website, GLQuake & GLHexen 2 for MacOS - Troubleshooting / FAQ
it has a statement that says:
Does GLQuake work with the Mission Packs or Total Conversions like XMen?
Yes. The open source code contains all the modifications required to play both official mission packs (Scourge of Armagon and Dissolution of Eternity). Popular total conversions such as XMen and MALICE are also know to function properly.

I can't seen to figure out how? When I run it it goes directly to GLQuake and ignores XMen?
    Can someone help me out?
    Thanks!

The conversion is normaly installed somwhere in your Quake folder. On Windows machines it may look like Quake\XMen. Then you have to run glquake with command line options. On a Windows PC this might look like:

    glquake.exe -game XMen

I don't know how this works on a mac.

      You might try Quakespasm.

      Quakespasm

Quakespasm thread @ Func: Func_Msgboard: Quakespasm Engine

I've never heard of GLQuake 1.13b for the Mac. I guess my point of mentioning that is that it isn't of mainstream use on Mac so there must be a reason.

I guess the short version, of people using Quake on Mac, they aren't using GLQuake 1.13b.

The most popular GLQuake Mac clients:

      1. Quakespasm Quakespasm
      2. DarkPlaces LordHavoc's DarkPlaces Quake Modification
      3. ProQuake ProQuake 4: The official continuation of ProQuake
      4. FitzQuake 0.80 SDL Fitzquake SDL Port
      4. Fruitz of Dojo 1.2 (Not sure where a PowerPC version lives these days)

All of the above can play mods either by a built-in launcher on the Mac allowing command line parameters to be typed in (1, 3, 4) or typing "game <moddir" (1) or typing "gamedir <moddir>" (2, 3) in console.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Thank you soooo much. You helped me out.
I checked out proquake_446_osx, and it worked like a charm.
It runs the original Quake and the XMen mod perfectly. It looks so good and runs smooth and very fast.
        Your help is greatly appreciated.
Can you recommend any other mods that might work.
        Thank you again.
