win7 and fps issues

Got the install rolling from FreeQuake: Install and Play Quake in 5 minutes! and can launch the game but getting horrid fps. Anyone run into this issue? Happens when I launch any of the clients, joequake-gl,glpro,wqpro.

winquake has no fps issues and runs good.

What hardware do you have ? Cpu and Gpu would be nice indicators of what direction you should steer torwards.

JoeQuake and ProQuake both have "winquake" aka "Software Quake" counterparts to their OpenGL brothers. (they should come with multiple .EXE files,indicating which version they are!)

ProQuake comes with DX8 version (ProQuake 451) and it runs blazingly fast, so does DirectQ.
