You found the armor of fallen warrior skin! Now press up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, fire, down, fire (while holding the axe) and watch what happens!

It's obviously a messed-up skin texture, but I've no idea what could be causing it.

no, all armor is doing this. i had a few textures in id1, but i deleted them all. im only having this problem with direct -Q. no other engine seems to manifest this problem.

all other engines use OpenGL, saving the exceptions like...

Try downloading ProQuake451, then try using the DX8 version included with it in the archive file ProQuake 4: The official continuation of ProQuake

            Try this, too...

Download: DirectX Redist (June 2010) - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

While it says June 2010, Publish date says Date published: 4/18/2011. current DirectQ uses DX9 afaik. Soon we'll get a updated for DX11 DirectQ!

The only possibility I can think of is that your 3D card is reporting support for non-power-of-two textures but doesn't really support them. That would be odd as it would be expected to mess up other MDL textures too.

                  I don't believe that.

Your armor is the wrong shape because the normal Quake armor does not have pointed shoulders. Therefore, you have a replacement model somewhere. Therefore you do, in fact, have a mod somewhere.

I'm just saying ... look for a pk3 or a pak or something in a textures or progs folder.

Baker is right, that is a replacement model that DQ has found in the game path somewhere. U might just wanna reinstall pak0 and pak1, and go from there.
