You found the armor of fallen warrior skin! Now press up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, fire, down, fire (while holding the axe) and watch what happens!
no, all armor is doing this. i had a few textures in id1, but i deleted them all. im only having this problem with direct -Q. no other engine seems to manifest this problem.

all other engines use OpenGL, saving the exceptions like...
The only possibility I can think of is that your 3D card is reporting support for non-power-of-two textures but doesn't really support them. That would be odd as it would be expected to mess up other MDL textures too.
ive deleted any mods in my id1 folder, but no change

I don't believe that.
Your armor is the wrong shape because the normal Quake armor does not have pointed shoulders. Therefore, you have a replacement model somewhere. Therefore you do, in fact, have a mod somewhere.
I'm just saying ... look for a pk3 or a pak or something in a textures or progs folder.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.
So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...
Baker is right, that is a replacement model that DQ has found in the game path somewhere. U might just wanna reinstall pak0 and pak1, and go from there.
