  • Shutter Problem

    I when I play quake I have vsync off and in the proquake engine with max 72 fps but i'm playing on a 60hz mointor and when I move everything seems like it shutters gooby pls halp

    Hi STB,

    I'm not sure what you mean by "it shutters gooby". Do you mean that Quake's rendering is very "juddery"? A little like a slideshow or a very bad 1940's Czech cartoon ?

    If so then you might need to give the folks here a bit more information before they will be able to help you. The following might help:

    What version of proquake are you using?
    When does this problem occur? On one map/server or all of them?
    What is r_novis set to?
    What is r_wateralpha set to?
    What command line are you starting quake with?
    What hardware, particularly graphics, is it running on?
    Is there any other information you can provide that might help them isolate and identify the problem?

    If you help them to help you then I'm sure someone will be kind enough to reply.

          i have run quake off of a flash drive (usb 2.0) and have never had any lag.

            My flash drive is usb 2.0 I think these ports are 1.0 though :/ school computers

              yeah i cant remember the transfer rate of 1.0, but thats probably whats causing the lag. btw have u tried mindz's suggestion yet?
