Yellow had mentioned there were some players that after playing DM+ at dm.quakeone.com were interested in pure DM on custom maps.

There are some fine servers for that already, the several excellent OFQSP server scattered across the USA and Canada:

If you have the QuakeOne maps pack, you are already set to connect to these servers and play some excellent old skool DM on maps such as:

aerowalk, q1edge, schloss, skull, ultrav, ztndm3





Just connect and type the map name in the console.

I have removed quake.crmod.com from the front page server browser --- it is still in the full one --- and replaced it with OFQSP Wisconsin (wi1.suroot.com:26001) as this server has the same ping as quake.crmod.com for most people, but with the additional ability to select custom maps on the server, it is really a better choice for the front page as there has been heavy demand for playing custom maps lately.

And for those wanting to play in europe...

Baker's right, these can be really fun maps to play, help to keep the game fresh and if you go to Polarite's servers (flanders.servegame.org ports 26000-26004) in Belgium or Bigfoot's server (bigfoot.morphos-team.net port 26000) in Germany you'll find these and literally masses of other good quality maps available. For most of the mods they run type either custom or levels in the console to see what's available.
