  • CA Positions....

I'd like to know what you do to get a position bind. I see this all the time in CA where someone will say to their team something like:

    (QuadRaptor_TU: @ mound with 100h, 100a)
    or
(QuadRaptor_TU: I am at RA tunnel with 100 health)

I've seen many different versions of this but I didn't know how they do it unless if it's some kind of exec or program you bind onto a key or something (like binding a "funky" quake name).

    bind "r" "say_team %l h%h a%a"

%l becomes your location, %h is your health, %a is your armor so it becomes ....

    Player: Megahealth 60h 25a

If you don't have locs, take these and unzip into c:\quake\id1\locs

    Zip format: http://www.quakeone.com/index.php?in...le&file_id=140

Also available in the CAx sounds + locs EZ Installer if you would prefer that over a zip:

It's really a bother when someone makes their location teamsay bind really long. Mine are straight to the point.

          "Mound"
          "Yellow Armor"
          etc

          I hate this:

"I'm at the Mound with 100 Health and 200 Armor. I have rl"

            Mine's "At Mound with H100, A200. Booyah!"

            Pretty simple.

I dunno about anyone else but I've never cared about people's health and armor.

It is very important to know the health and armor of teammates after the field winds down in CA. If there is only 1 guy left on the other team and my teammate only has 25 health, I know he will not want to directly engage the remaining opposing player, whereas if my teammate has 80 health and is a good player he join a direct attack. If he has 25 health, he will have to get first strike (camp/ambush) or approach from behind.

Your teammate's health affects all kinds of factors.

oh ok, you're playing the teacher role.

putting health and armor up in the messages only makes people read longer. All they really want to know is where they are in the map so they can meet up quicker. CA matches happen so fast near the end that it doesn't matter who leads the party. Everyone is just looking for signs of the enemy.

                        %a %h - 2% useful information
long sentences to read when you have to keep alert - 0% helpful

If any CA quaker thinks I'm wrong about that, tell me now. The only CA quakers that share a good opinion are the ones that voted for CA here or here

I'd have to say that in CA, unless your playing seriously, health and armor isn't as important. In DM location and health and armor is much more important. In DM you play more as a team, in CA everyone just does their thing.
