Funny the things that come to light after playing Quake.

That's a good guess ... I'd do CTRL-ALT-DEL and see what is running and maybe do MSCONFIG. If it is your wireless -- there probably isn't a fix; it is something to do with the Microsoft networking drivers, you could be SOL.

If you are lucky, it is annoying and poorly written application running in the background but really the only way you can sort it out and actually get a real sense of the cause is to by playing Quake on a computer directly connected to the router a comparing/contrasting.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

The thing is aside from me reinstalling my Wireless card and resetting up the network nothing has changed on my PC and Quake was running fine the day before I did this. So I dunno...

Connection fixed. I did not install a special program that came with my Linsys router - some kind of Linsys Network Monitor. I just installed that program and everything works great. I guess it's required to make a stable connection. Dunno why. As long as it works though I'm happy... now I can own again
