Well Ive had Quake ever since 1996 and never played multiplayer. And now my Quake disk won't work on my new computer so I got joequake. I also got my friend to get it too. So I was wondering if someone could tell me how I could like host a coop game for us to play?

What you might find easier is for both of you to download this:
http://www.quakeone.com/index.php?in...ile&file_id=12
And then type connect coop.runequake.com:26003 (USA) in the console or [color=#ffcc33connect flanders.quake1.net:26001 (Europe) in the console and then after you connect type "vote-vanilla" in the console.
The reason is depending on whether or not one of you has a router, this can run into "fun" complications involving port forwarding.
Public servers also have high bandwidth allocations.
However, here are the instructions if you want to try a locally hosted game.
0. You start up JoeQuake
1. Bring down the console by pressing the tidle key "~"
2. Type coop 1 in the console.
3. Type maxplayers 2 in the console.
4. Type map start in the console.
5. You go to http://www.whatismyip.org/ and find out your IP address
6. Your friend types connect 66.55.44.33 in the console (or whatever your IP address was in #5) and you are connected.Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.
