  • Best 4-player mods?

Hey guys, just getting back into Quake after a decade long hiatus. I've turned the kids onto it (9,10,11) and they love it (naturally). I want to get some mods, but it's overwhelming, there are so many! Can you guys recommend some that would be especially fun on a 4-player LAN?

I've already download Painkeep, because we used to play the shit out of it back in the day. I remember we had another mod that let you grab the head of your slain opponent (if you gibbed him) and throw it at other people, at which point it would become a blood-dripping, heat-seeking missile that would make weird noises while it chased them around the level. Does anyone know what that mod is called? It used to crack us up.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any 4-player mod suggestions you might have.

P.S. This may be OT for this board, but I'd welcome suggestions for other good 4-player shooters (besides Q1) that would run well on P3Hz/6600GT-ish machines.

Open Arena (the Quake 3 GPL'd project) should work on that machine.

Really, for 4 players I'd play something like Insomnia in coop mode.

I think Quake single player is the best thing to do with 4 players, really.

I'd go to www.quaddicted.com and look through the single player section or go to the Underworld site at http://underworld.planetquake.gamespy.com
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...
