map problems

hi, I down loaded quake shareware, proquake and gl quake
I try to get on a server and I I dont have the correct maps. I have a CD with the maps but when I try load it it says quake for DOS will not load on nt. I have XP.

Any suggestions/

Do you have these files:

c:\quake\glpro399.exe
c:\quake\wqpro399.exe
c:\quake\id1\pak0.pak (shareware Quake datafile)
c:\quake\id1\pak1.pak (registered Quake datafile)

And make sure that this file is deleted or renamed

c:\quake\opengl32.dll

If the above is all correct, double-click glpro399.exe or wqpro399.exe and Quake will start.

(Quake.exe is not what you use, that's old DOS Quake and will not run on Windows XP. You use glpro399.exe or wqpro399.exe instead of quake.exe).
