  • TF problems ( server issues )

Ok, first I'm banned from qw.terra.com.br:27510 which is about the only active server I can find with more than 3 people at a time. I tried searching for it, but it seems it's hosted in brazil...and most of the people on the server weren't english speakers much less the site I found with "terra" information. So, I have no idea why I was banned as I hadn't even been able to join a game yet ( most of my time was spent waiting for it to download .mdl's or maps, etc. by the time it finished they were on another map etc. :/ ).

Second, two other "active" servers I've found:
    amnesia.matrux.net:27600
    phoenixlabs.org:27500

First one, I get a "bad server address" second is the only one yet I'm able to join but it's never got more than one or two people at a time. I figure this place is the only place I would know to ask if they know.

Is there any regularly used server for Quake Team Fortress any more besides these? I know most have moved on to TFC or TF2, one of which I don't have, other one I use a steamless server which is always half full of bots. Also I would like to experience the original way TF was made.

If it matters, I'm using Quakeworld.exe to connect, as proquake doesn't work and adding the servers to QView ( even under "quakeworld" mode ) shows up as "unknown" and I cannot connect. Any help?

ezQuake is the dominant (95% use) Quakeworld client, (http://ezquake.sourceforge.net) and you really should be using that for countless reasons.

[ProQuake is a NetQuake client, which is what most of here play. The Quakeworld guys are at http://www.quakeworld.nu ]

But anyways, go to http://www.quakeservers.net and there are plenty of sporadically active Team Fortress servers in the USA. If you are Brazilian, I'd recommend http://www.quakebrasil.com.br/

ezQuake just locks up my computer, it's never worked for me. I think it has something to do with being GL based as nothing that uses that this computer can run. quakeservers.net is what I've been using, and the TF section has had 4 populated servers ( the four I can't get to work ) and the main one is Terra, the one I'm somehow banned from.

I'd go to Quakeworld.nu and look at the members list and find Vegetous and private message him asking if he can help you with that server.

Vegetous almost certainly would know the server admin and maybe could either tell you why you can't connect or get you unbanned (if you aren't supposed to be banned).

My guess is that the executable you are using is banned, probably because of old cheats.

Hmm, yeah I didn't think of the qw client being banned, that might be it. I'll see if he's got any ideas on a better client for my old computer. Thanks!
