  • A really noobish question, but here goes...

Here's the scoop: I've got fitzquake on a USB stick. On Thursday I plan on passing that around to some classmates at college and having a big LAN on the campus' wifi during the break. The problem is, the player limit is at 4 and I don't know how to increase it. I want it to be at 8 at least. Commands are something I've just gotten the hang of, so I don't know too much about them.

Can anyone help me out and give me some insight as to how to set up a proper LAN for Thursday?

    -listen 8

put that in your command line when you start up quake. this makes a listen (local) server on your machine with max players set at 8.

How do you know when your server is allowing that many people?

as long as you do what papa said it should be set to 8 players max.... why would you need to check it?

You can check it by typing maxplayers in the console, or type status in the console and it should say the number of players supported.

Use the -listen parameter like mentioned above.
