  • ZQuake or Proquake? - Poll

    Hi there!

    I was searching for a good engine to play on the net and to make my own LANparties with some fellas. I've read about both Zquake and Proquake and their net features and at this point I don't know what engine to choose. Which one would you pick up and recommend?

    zquake = QW
    proquake = NQ

    but on a lan the physics are pretty much the same whether its QW or NQ so you might as well go for zquake, for it probably has more features/eyecandy.. unless you really don't want to play QW

      REally it depends on the mod of choice.

      If you are purely local server then use crmod for DM with Proquake.
      if you want a mix of players online and local then use darkplaces

      if its ktx then use FTE, or Zquake or MSVD...

        I like that ZQuake works without external media and doesn't require anything except the expected pak files. It's like NetQuake with prediction and Quakeworld physics.

        It's very versatile and would score high in the all-purpose engine department.

          Think also about that I use mods, such as KQP. I was testing ProQuake yesterday in a LAN (6 players) and it was pretty good and stable, both normal Quake and using mods. I used KQP and FVF and they worked good
