I love DM3, its one of the most well rounded maps for CA. However I do not playing DM3 more then 2-3 times and prefer to play Quake for Quake, not solely for DM3. If nothing ever changed, we'd still be living in caves and hunting with rocks.

Why is Dredd good anyway? Dredd is nothing special, just a Quake server. However I've noticed the people who worked hard to make CA and CAx obviously wanted something a little more robust then a mod that could only play DM3 and a very small handful of other maps. Hence Dredd tries to fill this void in the player base.
THIS IS NOT RAGE VS DREDD or SPEAKNOW VS DREDD. I couldn't careless what happens at Rage or Speaknow, who runs it, or how they prefer to set things up. They are both fun low ping servers and I enjoy having them around. I feel the same for all Quake servers for that matter. I get tired of these servers being compared.
Connecting to a server and having sweet assurance can be a beautiful thing and for that, Dredd tries to focus on what an open community desires. Theres plans in the future which will fully utilize Dredd's configuration and I'd rather be on the train with innovators then on the train with the sourpuss nay-sayers. If you like only playing DM3 all day because you know it and can run it backwards with your eyes closed and you feel secure, then go play DM3 you have no obligation to contribute to the Quake 1 community, you do your part just being there on the servers.
I notice even still to this day that the attitude on Dredd is much improved over Rage or Speaknow, which happens to be one of the biggest complaints for those servers, I don't know if its admin's going wild or bitchy players but its very non-tolerable in the fasion that most complaints get turned into a "Well I'm an admin and I don't need proof." or "You kicked me for no reason, all I did was spam text non-stop and whine about all the bots" how old do you think the average Quake 1 player is these days, yet we still have children at the helm.
The whole Quake 1 Census is skewed these days, it use to be an all around experience but it feels as though players are dividing themselves voluntarily. Quake is my game of choice, not CTF, CAx, RuneQuake or any other mod, WE NEED TO GET OUR SHIT TOGETHER PEOPLE.
