  • 2fort too dark?

I've recently gotten TF up and running (with my computer, that's quite a few hoops to run through...) and jumped on a server that actually had people in it. Of course, they were on 2fort. Now, I've played TFC much more than is healthy, and I'm much more used to that game's version...but even though Quake was dark as all heck in a lot of parts...this is literally walking down pitch black hallways with the scant dim light here and there. Then outside it's, of course, fine. Which leads me to believe it's not a problem on my end (it's not like any other part of Quake I play is this bad at darkness).

Is it supposed to be this dark? I can't imagine a map that got this popular was because of this version of it. Am I missing something? I would love to be able to play this but it's hard when I'm running into the enemies base hugging the walls and then get killed by god knows who.

Type this in console: gamma .x where a lower value of x will give you a brighter screen. If it does nothing, you need to switch to another client. Baker's modified Proquake (version 3.99 is the latest) is great choice for someone looking for a solid engine with the proper features and enhancements Quake should have been built with, yet with a faithful look and feel true to the origional Quake engines.

Doesn't ProQuake not work with TF since it's QuakeWorld? I'll load up 2fort in ProQuake and see what happens though, but like I said the bridge area is fine along with everything else...it's only the dark hallways? I'd like the hallways brighter, but I don't want to be blinded when I go "outside."

P.S They seem to only play on 2fort5r...?

Ah yes. I assumed it was Netquake. I know nothing of the Quakeworld side of quake, however the gamma command probably should work in Quakeworld.

I think I've found my problem: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtfBYKVZP08]YouTube - 2Fort Description Quakeworld Team Fortress and Team Fortress Classic[/ame]

My TF looks nothing like this, no custom sprites other than the characters whatsoever...I'm looking for some sort of texture pack now with no luck

          Thanks though for helping

I know he turned up his brightness, but he could still tell where he is going. I think he his is a better version since he's using an updated version of Quake (I can't run GL-anything) and I'm running it classic. So the textures are there and everything and if I blast the brightness I can vaguely tell where I'm going in certain parts of the tunnels. God forbid I need to run to get some health quick or something. I suppose if they're on that map I'll turn up the gamma and deal with the bland colors because of it, I don't know why else it looks so dark. The JMC site pics of 2fort aren't as dark...:/

I dunno. I dabbled in Quakeworld a little myself but I don't know too much about it. I think there are other quakeworld engines beside the generic winquake and glquake versions

I'm pretty sure I can safely say I'm a computer nerd but my voice is as perfectly normal as anyone else's. It doesn't have that scratchy, going-through-puberty (like when your voice would screw up but it's like that all the time) quality
