  • "trying... still trying..." connection problem

    Hello!

I've got 2 macbooks and I'm trying to connect them locally.
I've installed MacOS version of glquake Quake X 1.1 with original quake files on both machines.
I start quake, then go to multiplayer and start server on 1st machine - so it starts.
Then i go to join server on 2nd machine - and search for local servers. It shows me a server. When I try to connect to it, the message

    "trying...
    still trying..."

appears in a console. And it doesn't connect.

Firewalls on both macs are set to accept all incoming connections.
Can anyone help me to solve this problem?

I have never been able to connect to a local game unless I type 'connect' and the ip address of the PC running as the server. It may be because local mode uses Netbios or IPX or some other protocol other than TCP...and usually those are disabled in the newer operating systems by default.

      Check router?

I've not run into a problem trying to play multiplayer with my Mac or host or connect from it either.... hmmm
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...
