    So would I go from 0 to 65535? PortForward.com has guides for every Quake but the original.

      Yeah. Quake uses a very broad range of ports, unless you are using a highly modified engine like DarkPlaces which uses a only a single port (as it should ... except that breaks compatibility with original Quake clients).

      Quake's network code is archaic.
