    Hi,
i just installed my old (original) Quake and Qrack! I really love it! Always thought GLQuake was the only thing, but now i know better. So i am quite new to the community. Of course i now want to mess with you on Multiplayer, but dunno how!

So i installed Qrack, go to multiplayer, and choose server for example bigfoot.quakeone.net
    Trying...
    Still Trying...
    ...
    No Response

do i need special mods or maps. What am i doing wrong?

    greetings

If you want a real life lesson on multi-player, join the sever Chi.CRMOD.tk. you'll be thought the ropes. The server will be your dojo, and you will be taught how to play efficiently. There is a teacher in there about this time everyday... Just hang out in there for a little bit and putz around... Someone will show up, and play with you. It's a 1 on 1 and team play experience.

Don't play in politics, listen to your heart, and keep an open mind...

in the console dropdown, "~" button, type: connect Chi.CRMOD.tk

You'll get introduced to a variety of maps and professional players.

I'll see you in the server!

To make quake use a specific network interface, you can specify the -IP command line parameter. So if you're network card which is connected to your router has IP 192.168.2.6, you'll want to do "glqpro.exe -IP 192.168.2.6"

That's some good advice from EFESS ^^^
I notice from another thread that you appear to be using an "out of the box" version of Quake?. I had that same problem years ago and it seemed to stem from a a number of issues, including being behind a NAT'd router. But, assuming you have the cured the shareware vs registered problem, can I suggest that you first try Baker's updated version of the proquake engine as he went to great pains to fix a lot of these problems and it just might help you on your way.

Of course if that doesn't solve it let us know.

BTW if your looking for a multiplayer game the most popular servers in europe at the moment are Bigfoot.quake1.net* and qrf.mine.nu*, although I'm reliably informed that the Flanders servers will return one day. In the US it seemed to be quake.shmack.net, rage.quakeone.com, speaknow.quakeone.com and ny.game-host.org with all but the last one having multiple ports. For a little variety you might try Foqers servers at hub.quakeone.com.

              * There are no special mods needed to play at Biggy's or Cortex's servers as it is all done server side, but to keep things fresh and interesting these servers have additional none standard maps a large number of which you can get from Quake one or bigfoot

              Hope this helps

Dony play on that server. That server is ran by a banned idiot who is not allowed on any other servers and you'll be taught to be an idiot just like splinter has become from kimp. All you got to do bro is play on speaknow.quakeone.com and you'll get the hang of things

Speaknow is a good server to play on but since you live in EU area you'll probably want to stick with the servers over there for best ping.
