  • Qrack & RQuake COOP?

I'm always losing my damned rune/status when map changes. This is highly annoying, using Qrack ver 2.010 Build 3046

Is that single player, or online? Hmm, just the icon on the status bar?
I'm not sure what all I might have tinkered with that would change that, but who knows when you code past midnight

If this is online, it sounds like it almost certainly could be a problem with the mod.

The client gets told by the server what your inventory is, obviously. The client can't just decide what runes you have, etc.

More likely the problem is this ... you don't have the map and Qrack is downloading the map. When Qrack reconnects to the server, it is a true reconnect and you have just connected to the server again as a new player thus having no inventory.

cl_web_download 1 is indeed the culprit , but what I cannot understand is why its happening. I have had the rquake maps downloaded for quite some time, should it be downloading the map even though it already exists? Should I turn this feature on only when I fail to have the map,and then turn it back off?

        thanks !

          Possibilities:

          1. Maybe R00k's reconnect command is acting up. When the server changes level, it does a reconnect. Maybe Qrack is doing a true reconnect when it shouldn't be?

          2. There was a buffer overrun vulnerability in Qrack's web download code; I fixed in ProQuake 4 point whatever (cl_parse.c, Mr. Burns reported issue. He had a mad-long Quake folder name). But I doubt you are using a 40 character path name ...

Mindz ... Is it downloading the map every single time?

Something ODD about the way Qrack uses it's gamedir. I noticed that if I put replacement textures in /id1 Qrack will look in "/qrack" but if it's not found it uses default. This maybe a bug carried over from JoeQuake. It's possible that maps not found in "/Qrack/maps" are downloaded and put there instead.

btw, i changed the reconnect thAng to normal and created a new command called lastconnect and added a new parameter to connect last, so it will reconnect you to the last server you connected to, (per session).

Yeah, I noticed this about using Qrack in coop. The whole thing about coop is continuing with your level, powerup, weapons, ammo, and status when the map changest to the next level. Qrack reconnects you to the server forcing you to start fresh - kinda ruins the whole point. Proquake will keep you connected and maintain all your settings/experience points/ leveling, weapons, etc.

1.9 should work fine for now.
