  • DirectQ and co-op?

    Sup guys!

well, to make long story short, i wanna start a co-op game to playonline with a friend (we are no more than 4 and we live in the same city, and not very far away from each other, also we share the same ISP)
the problem, is that we can't connect. I've checked the firewall on my pc, and their pc (via remote desktop) and no, everything is cool. We can connect to other servers and we have the same version of directQ (1.8.666 full) but how can connect with each other? I made my friend to start a new coop game, and when i try to connect to his game, it crashes DirectQ with the error "Unknown Error"

here is a pic with the error.

we have the same options of port and hostnames that came by default with directQ... so how can I (or my friends) set up a server or a game for playing the single player campaing trough co-op? this game is awesome, and it must be better with pals i do believe, any help would be appreciated (BTW, i know there are other engines that have better multiplayer code, but I can't afford them cuz my pc is shit, and can't play any GL based engine )

It should work but I've honestly never tested it. I tend to discourage use of DirectQ as a server mainly because there are other much better and more fully-featured servers available. You could, for example, run a ProQuake dedicated server on one of the PCs (it can be the same PC as a client is running on, just run it from a different directory) and all connect to that. It will give you a much much better server than DirectQ ever could, and will essentially be a client + local server setup, the very same as if you were using a listen server.
    IT LIVES! http://directq.blogspot.com/
