I'd like to know what are some of the best bots out there for Q1. Support for great custom maps, like Aerowalk, would be nice as well, but support for just the regular DM maps is fine with me.

I'd say FrikBot is the overall best and most well-rounded as far as map support. Lightning_Hunter has made a waypoint pack consisting of ~350 waypoints. The bots can play without waypoints... though they may not be as much of a challenge. I also made a few waypoints for the id1 maps a long time ago (some of them suck pretty bad, been meaning to update them eventually but haven't had the time). Here's the link. The other Custom maps and Painkeep maps there haven't been updated, Lightning_Hunter took mine and refurbished them, those should all be in his pack.
Check out Lightning_hunter's thread here. Links to download Frikbot and the waypoints/mappack are in there.
The second best I'd have to give to the Frogbots... Their combat and realism is unmatched, beating frikbot at times. Yet they don't support nearly as many maps as the Frikbots (they can't play on maps without requiring waypoints). Not sure which version of the Frogbots is the latest for NetQuake, but this may be it: http://quakeone.com/proquake/frogbots-099.zip
The Omicrons are also quite good as well. They can support any map without waypoints, they use dynamic level learning and remember the level each time it loads again. They're not quite as human-like and on some maps don't navigate as smoothly as the FrikBots would. Link: http://quakeone.com/files/getfile/100
I used to love playing against bots back when I had dial-up... Even still do today sometimes.Personally I'd suggest the Frikbots.... but try all those out if you'd like and see which one you enjoy the most.
