Well things are going quite well. Right now just the 2 of us are playing. I hope that doesn't change as a few others join in the near future. But I will cross that bridge if problems arise later...
I will add that I did make one change that helped make the gameplay "fair". My ping really never exceeds 8ms. My Uncles might peak at 80ms. I spotted a command on Lord Havoc's webpage cl_netlocalping......the default is "0" for the server. I changed it too 80 and was now experiencing a very slight lag time, but not enough to disrupt the play.
Yesterday, something odd to me did happen....I had the server up for about an hour messing with settings and commands. The map was House of Chthon, one of my favs. Next thing you know an unknown "player" joined. I've got the server set as public, however I have made no attempt to publish or add my IP to any list. I'm not really sure how he would have found it??Comment

Darkplaces has a server browser akin to most modern games. Your server was probably automatically added to that list once you started it.e|------------------------0---------------

Yes I suppose you are right on there. I got the server running and then tried to join a game while mine was still running. There was 5 or 6 servers running under the "search Dark Places games" and mine was one of them.
