  • Team Deathmatch and TWCTF LAN issue - frag counts

I have around 6 PC's at my house, new and old, which all have one thing in common: Quake One! I've been getting buddies together every other week to do some LAN play deathmatch and everything works great. However, we've been wanting to do some team based games recently which is where I'm having problems.

In Quake's standard TDM, I've noticed that Quake does not add up the frags for a team score and the match ends when only one of the players on a team reaches the frag limit. I figured I might need some kind of mod or console command to fix this issue but when I started running TWCTF I noticed the same issue was occurring. I'm assuming the issues are related.

I've tried many different engines like JoeQuake and Proquake and searched for console commands but there are not many that pertain to TDM and frag counts. Hopefully this is an issue you guys recognize and I'm just overlooking something really simple. I apologize if it has been brought up before as I have tried searching the forums but could not find anything about this specific issue. Please point me in the right direction if it has been brought up before.

After too many days and hours unsuccessfully fiddling with countless engines and mods to find something that adds up team scores I finally found an unofficial "fix." Basically, I just take away the frag limit and use only the time limit then at the end we tally up the individual scores by hand. That's using the old noggin!
This must be how they actually did it back in the old lan days before the Quake engine knew simple frag addition.

If anyone knows of a more "official" fix for a LAN server running team deathmatch or Threewaves CTF, feel free to let me know. For now my buddies and I are going to get back to more fragging with a side of addition.

    Mathematical!

You could always install CRMOD on one of the faster machines and run a lan server. It's much more professional for Team DM.
