NewDM and Rquake

Second, I've heard that the Rquake server has gone down. If interested, I can start an Rquake server to run on fvf.servequake.com:26002?

On the subject of RQuake, and just in case anyone in europe is interested there's also a couple of RQuake servers (which did go down for a while) available in Belgium and I think it's Sweden. To join in just type

Connect Flanders.Quake1.net:26001

or

Connect qrf.servequake.com:26003

...in the quake console. Then press 2 to start playing

For those that may not have the custom maps in your quake/id1/maps folder, you might try here first.





Incidentally, does anyone know where to download the mod files from (ideally not just the progs.dat)?

Think he was letting you know, that those types of servers still exist.

On the other hand, Foq was saying the USA needs them too.

Yes that's spot on. There are no Client side files needed as far as I am aware, I've certainly never knowingly had to download any as a player apart from the maps as you indicated. What I was looking for was the server side mod files. The reason is I sometimes run private LAN games for a number of friends and work colleagues and it would be fun to be able to produce a personalised RQuake server rather than just have the progs.dat. I noticed the RQUAKE download links on Quakeone.com seemed to die a long time ago. It's no big thing, it would just would be handy if they were easily accessible.

You could try the link Foq supplied above or just use the Flanders coop server in Belgium. As I recall it's flanders.quake1.net:26001
