  • CTF Server Help

    Hi,

I've got 2 quake world server setups (running mvdsv).

    1. 3wave
    2. pure with 3wave

I'm trying to find a way to have all of the features of pure ctf without the flags. i.e. team based deathmatch with the original 4 runes and grapple. I've tried turning off CTF in pure but that removes runes and grapple (which is a must!).

So I'm stuck with the original 3wave with CTF turned off, which does exactly what i want. Actually, what I really want is grapple + 4 original runes, and no teams. But 3wave doesn't support that either, and team based dm is ok with me anyway.

I've looked at Rune Quake, but would prefer the original runes only.

And now, we're starting to play with some custom maps (dm4ish, a few others), but configuring a vanilla 3wave server to support them is a no go... I can't find where you configure a custom maplist.

    I guess I have 2 main questions:

    1. Can you, and if so how, set up a custom maplist using mvdsv and 3wave?
    2. Does anyone know how to run a QuakeWorld setup that has a) Grapple b) The original 4 runes?

    TIA,

There is a flag in RuneQuake called something like "Basic 4 Runes", set it and you will have 4 runes and grapple and the runes will be strength, haste, resistance and regen.

I think there is a QuakeWorld server that uses that setup or did recently.

These questions are best at http://forums.runecentral.com where Slot Zero actively maintains the mod. He knows far more about RuneQuake than anyone else, of course.

Might ask at QuakeWorld.nu, they are very knowledgeable about MVDSV and getting setup and everyone who has ever played any Quake sure knows about CTF I bet they can help with that.

I myself virtually MVDSV illiterate and haven't tried to do much with ThreeWave either. QuakeWorld.nu is your friend for QuakeWorld questions :d :d :d In fact, the MVDSV developers hang out there.

I don't know would QW, but as for netquake mods, CRCTF has a practice mode. It is teams + grapple, you can vote to enable other features like runes (standard 4), quad/pent, etc. Flags are still present but don't do anything. This mod is running on ctf.clanhdz.com and quake.intertex.net:26666.

Most crctf servers require 3wave files. Get them the 3wave pak here.

Type "practice" in console to switch to practice mode, "setrunes" to toggle runes ("commands" lists all commands).

If you want to run it yourself PM the author of the mod, R00k

          Hey,

QuakeJunkie or anyone have the 3wave (original) mod for qw and can send it to me?

          Thanks,
