I was looking for a Proquake Feedback thread and this was the closest I could find so apologies if it's in the wrong place.
On the subject of the Proquake Engine, has anybody encountered the problem of opponents vanishing and then reappearing for no apparent reason? I've noticed this a lot recently both as a player and as a spectator as it appears that at certain distances on some maps a player will momentarily vanish as they are moving around and then reappear. Its probably my imagination but its almost as though there is a certain distance from you where they "phase out". [Note to self: I really must stop watching so much star trek with the kids]
I'll see if I can put some more meat on the bones of this query when I get back on my "Quake PC" but I wondered if there was a setting or something that I could try to ensure that players where visible at all times? I haven't noticed this with Qrack or EngineX. As I'm sure you can appreciate, playing immensely skilled players like Dude, Pol. Peg and Sir Henry is hard enough but when they involuntarily become completely invisible to me its scary almost to the point of fudge making
Just to be clear:
The player hasn't picked up invis, the last time it happened we were on Aerowalk which doesnt have one as i recall.
It wasn't as a result of some rune, although in all cases i was on a server running the runequake mod (shmack and bigfoot in FFA mode with runes turned off)
The player wasn't hidden behind any part of the map
I know of at least one other person who is having the same experience and so any constructive suggestions would be much appreciated and I will of course pass it on to a fellow Quaker
Kind regards
