  • problems with quake 2 source ports

    i don't usually ask for help on a forum, as i like to figure things out on my own, but this is just bugging the hell out of me and i can't find any fucking info on this.

    i tried playing quake 2 with kmquake2, but for some reason all the surfaces in the distance are shaded red. i tried turning down my graphics settings and turning off all effects, but the red is still there. i eventually uninstalled it, so i don't have a screenshot of it. but i started playing alien arena today, and i came across the exact same problem. and turning off shaders doesn't work either.

    opengl version: 2.1
    glsl version: 1.2
    graphics is intel g45/g43 chipset

    one would think it's my crappy system, but it only happens with kmquake2 and alien arena's crx engine. it's bugging the shit out of me. help?

    This is kind of the wrong place for a question like that..

    Most people here only play quake 1 or only mod/map for it...

    If you had a q2 specific question maybe... but you're wanting info on a q2 mod problem which is a little bit more far fetched.

    goodluck! maybe you should spread out your search though.

      i apologize. i figured this wasn't the best place to ask, but i don't know of any other website.

      my OS is windows 7. drivers are all updated. compatibility mode didn't work. the thing is, every other id tech engine mod works, even qfusion.

        the problem could be a shader version. I dont understand... every id tech engine mod?

        BTW: Dont buy a laptop which have the intel chipset. Most games did not work with intel chipset!

          i meant like darkplaces for q1, qfusion for q2, ioquake3 and daemon for q3a, etc.

          also it doesn't seem to be a problem with the shader version because alien arena uses glsl 1.2
