  • What's the best GLpro Version?

I'm currently using v 4.90. Is there a newer version? Is there an older version that is seemingly better? What say you quakeone?

I thought Baker said the dxProquake was actually faster, not sure.
You can weed thru the changelogs. Though, some of the later changes seemed to be geared for mapper iirc.

    V4.93 - October 24, 2012
    ================================================== ================================================== ========================
    1. Server browser. Press F5 or Menu->Multiplayer->Join Game. Refreshes every 80 seconds.
    2. Support for a QuakeOne.com player id.
    3. MH fixed a DX8 wrapper screenshot issue reported by Arkon. I pressed CTRL-V. Thanks MH!
    4. Removed ancient SGIS OpenGL stuff and used ARB.
    5. Miscellaneous improvements robbed from FitzQuake Mark V and Engine X. Demo tweaks, history file refinement, zzzzz.
    6. Timedemo automatically closes console.
    7. Added 2 testing command line parameters for potentially addressing Polarite keyboard issue.
    8. General code cleanups and streamlining.

      Just for info...
As I recall there are a couple of bugs in 4.93:
      • If you use record demoname to try and record a demo it crashes quake. The bug wasn't there in some of the earlier versions, so thank heavens for Qrack
      • There are occasions where your opponents momentarily disappear then reappear. There doesn't seem to be any obvious reason for this, i.e. I can't force it to occur, but it does happen in playing and eyecam mode.

I know a couple of players that have noticed both of the above, so if this causes you an issue then 4.93 might not be the one for you.
Disclaimer: I may have dreamed this.

hmm one could run a diff between 4.93 and earlier versions that dont have this but to find where the flaw is.
demo bug could be an invalid pointer, pathname etc...
dissapearing entities could be messed up frustrum or culling errors. (I had something like this once...)

          I use the latest version glpro4.93 .
Record demo doesn't work , I use glpro4.90 if I want to record.
Players only disappear (sometimes)in eyecam mode if you use above fov 90, this got to do with the anti-wallhack settings of the server.
When playing it doesn't happen to me.

The weird thing is it seems to be just the player entities, all other Ammo. powerup, runes, etc all seem to be unaffected. It's as though the players reach a field and then they blink out of existence for a second and then blink back in. I thought I was seeing things at first but other players have mentioned it too. Weird stuff
Ahh well, perhaps if Baker returns at some point he wouldn't mind taking a quick peek but thanks for the suggestions

If I diff against 4.90 and then some. i can take a look at it and submit a patch.

Baker wont mind, and its not like we all dont swim in the same pool..

it might not be until the week end as mothers day is coming up and im gonna be away from the keyboard...
