    in qrack when typing in messagemode (and i think even in console) commands bound to any "letter-keys" get executed.. this can be very anoying.. epecially when using messagemode while in admin-menu on the runequake server mod... since i use the "letter-keys" to select weapons a lot of unintended things may happen..

    not sure if this a flaw in qrack or anyone else has this problem, but if it is a qrackflaw.. it needs fixing

    That a feature of Quake clients, I agree that it doesn't make a lot of sense though.

    Every Quake does that. Maybe they shouldn't though!

    I clearly remember one time during a tournament I had an admin function bound to the letter "v" unintentionally and I kept pulling a player out of the game and forcing him to be an observer everytime I was typing a message to someone else watching the game. I had no clue what was going and no one else did either until I figured it out. (Fortunately, it wasn't a close game at all).

    (/added to list of possible engine improvements all engines could use)

      hmm well i never experienced any problems befor with other clients (proquake, glquake, winquake) but if every client has this behaviour.. i think using the standard impulses 1-9 for menus isnt such a good idea.. i see why this is used.. to make it newbee friendly.. but im sure a lot of players have more complex cfg's that include these impulses in their bound keys other then the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0 keys..

        I just checked this. I can't remember the details and I'll look into this later, but probably not today. I know when I had this problem once with the admin menu, I wasn't using QRack because it was 2003 or 2004 and QRack didn't exist.

        You might be on to something that can be fixed, I'm not sure if it is engine side or mod side. Interesting.

        I'll investigate this further to see if I can remember what I was doing at the time and recreate the situation. Impulses do not seem to be sent to the server when a client is in messagemode, I just tested both ProQuake and QRack but I remember having this issue as well so there is something here.

          well i addressed this issue on the runequake messageboard and according to lardarse its a clientside issue.. so i guess it is

            Although I'd feel more comfortable if an engine expert would confirm this...

              Most engines will do that for - binds (such as -attack and -jump). So if you're in the console or messagemode, it will still register releasing the trigger. But if an engine does that for any other binds, it's screwed up.

                Ah that makes sence actually.. see i made my own alias for "weaponmode" befor i realised there was a command for it on the runequake mod.. since i use direct fire buttons the only way to make a script work properly with the double select method is to select on the -fire as well.. and since i use the spacebare as a fire button this would send impulses to the server while typing in messemode..

                thanx for pointing this out! now i know how to fix it

                  =PEG= dood which version do u have of qrack because u need the 1.80 version of Qrack if u having all these problems well that means you don't have Qrack 1.80 BB
