  • Odd Audio Feedback Loops Running Quake clients

i've tried quake injector, quakespasm and joequake, same issue.
i have also tried manual installations, same issue.

strange adio feedback loops that are also slowing the game to a halt!

i'm watching youtube and local video content in 1080 no issues, so i just don't know

atm i'm using integrated graphics [Enhanced Intel HD Graphics 2000/3000], but surely that isn't the issue, the mobo is 4 years old.

i can upload a quick 10sec video via fraps to show what's happening, or is there a text log dump from quakespasm that could shed some light on it?

    can anyone advise?

    this has me quite perplexed!

Posting a video would be helpful. Is it possible that you have two playback devices enabled in windows, so for example, a headset, AND stereo mix. If that is the case, disable whichever you are not using, and enable and set as a primary device the on that you do use. Leme know if that works, and I'll try and post any other ideas I have when you do. Good luck!

well, no video plays with the fraps recording, only audio.
i tried uploading but the msg i received was invalid file, even though it's an avi file [one of the most common file types in existence].

i only have my speakers working and the stereo mix for recording. no mic plugged in.

this is what the txt file spits out after exiting:

        Hi Peter
A few questions spring to mind:
        1. Do you get the same symptoms with other quake clients such as the latest Proquake / Qrack / Darkplaces / DirectQ?
        2. Do you get the same symptoms if you play the single player game offline as well as multiplayer online?
        3. Is there anything swallowing up the CPU / GPU at the point your are experiencing these issues?
        4. Have you tried increasing the memory allocation?
        5. Do you get the same problems are lower/different resolutions?

        Kind regards

          same with dark places
          i always play offline
apart from quake everything else is shut down.
i don't know about memory allocation.
nearly completely freezes at 1080, 800 is better. surely this shouldn't be happening with vanilla quake on an integrated card only 4 years old?

youtube runs fine at 760 on my 1080 monitor, as does any local video file in full screen, no issues.

Try totally disabling stereo mix. It sounds to me like the sound may be playing twice, and one source is feeding of of another. Other than that, I don't think I can help

              that's ok, i've sorted it!

i was having issues with the intel drivers.
you would think even the ones that came with the mobo would be able to run quake off the bat!
