  • some proquake questions

    Hello

I'm trying to get some things working but I'm not sure if possible with ProQuake.. I do have the latest version

ok, so, first off, is there such a thing as a transparent hud for it? what is the command?

also maybe have a full screen playing area and health, ammo and armor numbers up but no hud.. is this possible? with what command?

lastly, the huge gun model is kind of in the way of view.. was there such a command to shift it to the right, left?... v_gunangle maybe (which doenst work)

or a gun fov command, to make it a bit smaller (decrease its size on screen)?

    thank you very much

Ok. So I don't know a whole lot about this, but as far as I know, you can hide the HUD by adjusting the 'screen size' in the options. In order to have a transparent HUD, you will need to download one and install it. I don't know how to do this though :/

I know that there is a command to HIDE your weapon, and with the original WIN Quake if you increased your FOV, the gun would get smaller. That's not the case for ProQuake however. If you wanted the gun on the left or right, you would most likely need to download a new gun model.

I hope this is of some help, and I'm sure someone who knows what they're talking about will be along shortly to help.

    Thank you and come again!

r_viewmodeloffset 0.5 would shift your gun a little to the right.

cl_sbar 0.5 would make your hud transparent

Like pieface said, changing screensize in options would control the size of the hud, you can type viewsize 100 (normal) or viewsize 110 (half) or viewsize 120 (no hud) in the console.

If you go into preferences, you can toggle the gun placement slightly under "weapon style" and toggle it between the classic way and the "darkplaces" way which is a bit lower.

what is slower, darkplaces? or the weapon model, how it shoots? lol (dunce cap person here lol)

ok, so thats all I can do with pq.. thanks.

some background info is, I was trying to make it a bit easier to see and play with, as I have already a worse than avg ping,so gameplay is a bit difficult

without changing much of the fov and screensize, which I already adjusted, so with those commands (thanks Baker), I can get a bit more screen size as I have trouble seeings whats going on

I think I also had some of the commands confused with dp, (vgunangle lol) as I tried that client and i simply dont have the ping for it to play online (as it's slower)

nice to see Pie, Mindz and thanks Baker for the answers

I think I wanted to ask 1 more thing but ahhh I cant remember now.. lol, will get back to it once it pops back to mind hehe

oh yea, maybe, is there a way to disable the smoke trails, like for gl and rl? I think you can with dp but not sure about pq.. yep, that was it

          have a nice day everyone

            just do r_drawviewmodel .3
you'll be able to see straight through it.

              thanks so much

I think that would help a lot

I would also like to point out a weird bug about this, but Im not 100% positive

A transparent gun would be good, but somehow I have found that by playing with no gun at all, r_drawviewmodel 0, it plays more badly and slower.. (at least online) in case nobody knew

It's just a hunch but I left it on, I think this is an interesting thing to know and it happens with pretty much all proquakes I tried

ProQuake doesn't have anything like that.
