What is the command to enable colored lighting in quakespasm?

I am using quakespasm-r1270. I have the .lit files in the maps folder and they are named the same as the associated .bsp files. Colored lighting works fine in DirectQ but with DirectQ I was able to turn in on using the menu.

check the qspasm docs; u might need to put the .lit files in quake/lits or quake/maps/lits folder.

There was no documents included in the zip of the version of quakespasm. I am using (quakespasm-r1270) so I read the .txt included in a different version. No reference to "lits" in it. I did try moving the lit files to QUAKE/LITS, QUAKE/ID1/LITS and QUAKE/MAPS/LITS. None made a difference.

I'd ask in the Quakespasm thread at Func_Msgboard

          Func_Msgboard: Quakespasm Engine

And not just say "I have lits and they don't work" but rather
          a) explicitly provide a link to the .lits you cannot get to work
          b) Name one example map you cannot get the lits to work with (e1m1? start? )
          c) If using a command line, provide that

Quakespasm obviously support lit files, but no doubt you aren't able to get what you are using to work. Then again, no one knows what you are using for lit files.

(In the answer to your other question: Quakespasm has no support for bestweapon in any shape or form, nor is there a different command like R00k's "impulse 7 5 4 3 1" thing. You could always point this out at the thread at Func Msgboard --- the worst that could happen is no different than the current state of not having the feature in Quakespasm.)

I think I made some headway with the lighting issue. I had all the .lit files in a pak file (PAK3_LIGHTING) in the ID1 folder. When I took the .lit files out of the .pak file and placed them in the ID1/MAPS folder the colored lighting worked. I used the original version 1.06 start.bsp to test. (The .lit file was originally downloaded long ago.)

Inside the .pak file the .lit files were in a folder called maps. Now I think quakespasm doesn't like my user made .pak files as I had a similar situation where quakespasm didn't play .mp3 music when inside a .pak file but would just fine when the same .mp3 were in a folder /ID1/MUSIC/TRACK02(ETC).MP3

I originally was asking if there was a console command to turn on the colored lighting, thinking it was off by default. Now I realize it was always on and my file organization was the problem.

I think DirectQ loads all pak files found in a folder, which is easier for someone using models and textures and stuff but at the cost of not being standard Quake behavior which can introduce incompatibilities and unintended consequences.

Quakespasm follows all standard Quake behaviors, including loading pak files in the order pak0.pak, pak1.pak, pak2.pak etc. stopping at the first one in the sequence that doesn't exist.

                We figured it out.

Seems that quakespasm didn't like that I had named the .pak files after pak1.pak with titles describing what they do; PAK2_MAP_FIXES.PAK, PAK3_LIGHTING.PAK, PAK4_EXP_E2M6.PAK. Change the names to PAK2.PAK, PAK3.PAK, PAK4.PAK and all works like I expect it too.

Is there an easy way to turn colored lighting off?

Thank you for your help everyone.
